"He himself was married to one of descendants of John Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition. This marriage made Leroy Hillman a member of the Clark family, and he was known to many of the later-generation descendants as Uncle Leroy, one of whom remembers seeing the gun after Leroy died in 1918, of the Great Flu Epidemic."
I'm guessing you meant to type William Clark.
BTW, Elmer Keith was a descendent of William Clark.

This Model 1902 1st change was shipped January 16, 1905. In 1950 it was used by Wood Co. Constable Will Whittle to kill Mineola, TX Chief of Police Wesley Taylor in a gun fight in which both men died. It started with a dispute over who had jurisdiction in a traffic accident.

I would get a holster for it and deal with it. I is a pinned sight so you could run one with a angled rear. I am a 45 colt guy. Doc's early 4"and the 45 colt triple lock target owned by Jim Fisher are my Grail Guns.

Cool. Mineola is half way between my home and my office. Drive through it every day.

Really fun to see all these nice old beauties. My oldest gun is my 32-20 HE model of 1902 first change. Shipped 1905. She's still in pretty good shape, and a fun plinking gun at the range.

Just to turn this thread upside down, I decided to post my NEWEST Hand Ejector. Truth be told, I don’t get into the modern stuff and, given the rest of the stuff I collect, it’s amazing I have anything this recent. A Registered Magnum dating from 1937.
It was a good excuse to post this one.
I wouldn’t have posted this if it wasn’t somewhat earlier, at least pre WWII.

You are right -William Clark is the Clark of Lewis & Clark. John Clark was William's father.

Just have flip phone and don't know how to do the picture thing, but I love my Triple Lock .44 spl. New Century 1st Mod. Hand Ejector. Like many have said, you don't find the quality of fine machine work these days no matter what they say of CNC.

I don’t know a lot about this firearm, it was in my dads gun case when I inherited them. It might not even be a model 10.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! You're right...it's not a Model 10. It's a .38 British Service Revolver from 1943-44 and that's about 14 years before S&W released the Model 10...and Model 11 which is what the M&Ps chambered for the .38 S&W cartridge were called. It appears your BSR has been reamed for .38 Special which was a pretty common modification to these guns when they were imported as surplus. Have you shot it?

It is a V I found the serial number starts with a V under the grip. What does it mean?

It means it is a Victory revolver from WWII as I said in post #118.

Sorry just saw this now. I’ve personally never shot it, it was my uncles service pistol in the RCMP in 1979 from what I know. I believe it was meant to be returned when he retired. He passed away and my dad got it, my dad passed away last February and I ended up inheriting it and got it registered to myself. I plan on taking it to the range as soon as it warms up outside.

I have two S&W hand ejectors #1. A nickeled .32 6 shot, serial # 286xxx,both on cylinder, barrel and inside of grip, barrel lug and cylinder has large end on cylinder push rod, with wood grips and S&W logo at top in gold script, finish is 100 % with no rust and barrel and cylinder appear to have NEVER been fired and forcing cone as well with no sign of any residue, shiny as well .Last date on top of barrel is Dec 29.14. #2. a blued .32 6 shot, serial #228xxx both on grip bottom, barrel as well, none on cylinder with barrel lug and large end on cylinder push rod, grips are black hard rubber with S&W logo at top, finish is 100% all over and appears also to have NEVER been fired as well as forcing cone with no residue, top of barrel last date is Dec. 22nd, 98. However barrel has been cut off at last 1 inch along with front sight, does anyone know where I can get another barrel? I got both of these from a gun show in PA several years ago but a few years apart.

Late Entry
Just for fun - here is my trio---
Top is the model 1902 , shipped 1903 , that I posted earlier.
Center is a model 1905 , shipped 1909 , with lanyard ring. That ring may or may not be factory , but I like it.
Bottom is one of my favorites : a 1931 (first year) , .22 Outdoorsman with the (actual) gold dot Call front sight.
These revolvers have in common : honest wear , quite affordable only a few years back , a dream to shoot , fine workmanship and class.

My earliest HE is a 1st model .32 with a 3 digit SN. I'm pretty sure that makes it a 1896.

MP Target 111638 11-20-07
I just had a new firing pin installed in my oldest gun.
Had it at the range two weeks ago and put 3 shots out of 6 directly in the bullseye at fifty feet. Really accurate gun.
At some point S&W must have worked on it as it has a bbl change and Made in the USA stamped on the side. Oddly they did not diamond stamp it or date it as worked on. They did stamp the serial on bbl
serrated trigger
Not sure when it was acid etched but I like the old school pattern.
Etching was done to compliment service grips

Sure , I dug it up.
And , fwiw , I acquired those three in 2015 - '16 when values were on the upswing , but not as wild as today , for about $1200 total. The early Outdoorsman made up almost 1/2 of that.
(I was willing to pay a bit of a premium [bidding] because it was from the first few months of production.)

Nope, not factory.
According to all the information that has been posted on the Forum over the years, the factory installed lanyard loops were 1/10" forward of center.

That's what I figured.
I was looking for a S&W .38 sp of that vintage , saw that one at a reasonable price. Part of the reason I settled on it was the lanyard loop ; I just wanted that feature. I don't think that the non-original retrofit hurts the value any , it's just a nice old shooter.
Credit to whoever installed it for taking care to not to violate the serial.
