S&W Grip Adapter
Anyone ever seen one of these? From the 1937 Fall & Winter catalog of Von Lengerke & Antoine of Chicago.

K and N frame adapters
N frame grip adapter on my commercial 1917
Up close.
The rubber pieces are replicas because the originals had hardened into stone and could no longer be installed.

This is a far superior installation compared to the grip adaptors made by Tyler, Pachmayr, et al. It seems like with modern manufacturing capabilities these could be made economically and from more durable material in place of that rubber insert. I think I’d be in line for two or three in K frame size.

The Wesson Grip Adapters were initially designed to be used with service style grips; factory Magna grips must be modified/shaved to use with these grip adapters in order for the horn to lay flush with side of the frame.

Agreed. Way more secure than the tension installation of the Tyler grip.
They could also manufacture different size insert pieces.

The prewar grip adaptors were available for K and N frame. There we designed to use with service grips and if used with Magna grips there would be a gap at the top that could pinch the web of your hand.
I found this K frame grip adaptor with Magna grips that had been thinned to alleviate the gap at the top.

They come up for sale periodically on this Forum, eBay, Gun Broker, and Guns International. Be prepared to drop $500+ for complete and original Wesson Grip Adapters (including the rubber block and screws) in nice condition. Repros are less pricey. You can also put a WTB (want to buy) add in the appropriate section of this Forum. You could also contact George Dye, Salt Lake Collectibles, who has them available from time to time.
