The earlier one is from about 1914 and the second one probably from the mid-1920s. Others here may get you closer to an exact year.

Ser. # 186458 was made June 25, 1913, as part of a production run of 100 blued .32HE revolvers. I don't have the records higher than Ser. # 229215, so can't help you on your other I Frame. Ed.

Well, I thought I was going to be able to help a little; but it looks like all I'll accomplish is to question the mid 1920's guess----and of course to suggest we're never going to accomplish anything besides confirming S&W's shipping practices defy approaching a logical solution-------and of course to once again suggest a letter almost always provides these answers.

#449510 shipped in February, 1927.
#444707 shipped in March, 1927.

Go figure!!
