Another beautiful pre-27
I mentioned in another post that a good friend of mine was
showing me a couple of his dad's guns and handed me this
8 3/8" pre-27.
OMG!!!! Look how dirty it is!!
I was over to his house helping out and he asked me what he
could do for me. I told him he could let me clean a few of his
guns for him and we'd be even.
I think this is a beautiful .357 Magnum.

That's amazing. It's also amazing that those Target stocks don't have a case groove in them.

Certainly. I got a lot of help right here in this forum about
cleaning different guns, SS, nickel and blue. Different surfaces
require different cleaning chemicals, brushes, bronze wool etc.
And a good friend has taught me a lot too. And, I really enjoy
cleaning them.
This is my 6" 66-1.
I start by tearing them down and cleaning the parts individually.
I don't remove the side plate because I don't want to chance
messing something up but I can if need be.
I clean them with solvents like Hoppes 9 for blue guns, cylinder, barrel
and entire gun then clean the solvents off with brake clean and
compressed air.
I do lots of detail work like around the forcing cone, end of
cylinder with brass or plastic brushes.
I polish it by applying Flitz with my finger, wipe it off with a
clean microfiber cloth and finish by waxing it with Renaissance Wax
and buff with another clean microfiber cloth.
I really do enjoy keeping my guns clean.

Great job! I too really enjoy cleaning them and am to the point where I hate to even see pictures of dirty guns.

I sold this one from 1959 last year. I never did shoot it.
I'm sure I'll be shooting my friends.

Break Free CLP cleaner, lubricant, preservative for cleaning.
Flitz for polishing and Renaissance Wax to finish it off.
