Default "Mark II Hand Ejector" completed auction

Link to a completed auction for a "1015-1917 S&W Mark II Hand Ejector".

Vintage 1915-1917 Smith & Wesson Mark II Hand Ejector Pistol - Revolvers at GunBroker.com : 896405065

Not something I am familiar with except from gun shows and online, so I was looking at this one mostly to see what I can learn.

The gun was described as 60~70% of original finish, but does not look like a polished blued gun, more like a 1940's Victory. British and Canadian proofs on the left near the hammer.

Marked .455. on the left side of the barrel. Listing was updated to say that a buyer noticed from the pics that the gun was converted to .45 colt. I read up on that here, but I am wondering how one can tell from pics alone. The face of the cylinder looks original to me, with s/n (??).

I have seen a couple similar guns at local shows, both from the same estate sale, I believe, and probably not identified very well and going unsold, so I must not be the only one who is confused.

Look at the picture that shows the cylinder open see how deep the ridge for the case mouth is. If it were still in 455 Webley that ridge would be about half way in. Hope this makes sense.

Am I crazy or is this a pretty good price on this gun?

I was watching that gun and was very tempted. But I got distracted by the pre-27 by the same seller with a close ending time and bought that one instead.

On this one, I thought the photos were not quite good enough to tell if it had been refinished or not.

Gun has been refinished pin polished flat see red circle in photo. Still might be worth it given gun prices these days.

I know what you mean. It may be the lighting, but the pretty consistent almost matte grey appearance of the finish just looks odd for an aged standard original blue.
