Since the Forum changed ownership, I notice that many of the folks who posted for years in this section, have been absent? I can't help but wonder why?
I don't imagine the format changes affected this category that much?

I haven't been here long enough to notice but I do hope they return. I have learned so much and am still woefully under educated. This place is THE resource for S&W.

I think I have seen more return than leave.

I am one of the folks that left for awhile. The previous administration was............ I'll leave it at that. Others have found a home some where else and may not be back.

I'm a FNG here, and am very pleased with the way this forum is handled. I used to frequent another forum that was not, well, as civil. The few folks I have had the pleasure of dealing with here are all in the "save address" in my e-mail. I am impressed with the wealth of knowlege on this board, the civility, and the profound absence of "internet commando's".
I think Smith's draw a different crowd. After all, us anachronists clinging to our wheelguns aren't to be taken seriously, are we?

It's a pity too.

A number got the boot in the last few weeks of the old ownership and were advised not to return by the new owner. They seemed to think that this was "Their" board and not Mike's and Lee agreed with Mike. A number left because neither Mike nor Lee was willing to run the Board the way they wanted - Go figure. I can't say I was entirely Happy with the way things were going in the last days of the 'Old Board' and I can't say I'm entirely Happy with everything here now but this is still the Second best Smith & Wesson Board on the Internet!!! I still have to give the nod to the Association Forum as being the Best of the Best because of the access to Roy on that Board. There are lots of good people here and this is where I start my day and also where I end most of them.
I think a few more folks from here might consider joining the S&WCA because it's NOT just a place for hard core collectors of antique S&Ws. Also, I think a few more of the folks from here should think about joining the S&WHF and if you have to ask what that is you need to do a little more looking and searching on your own. The information is out there.

Very interesting comment. I apparently missed or overlooked that unpleasantness because this is the first I've heard of it. But golly, how many of those guys got canned? I imagine some have not returned of their own accord for one reason or another? Whatever the reasons were or are, it's unfortunate that it happened. Seems to me that this category has a different atmosphere since it was reclassified to include post war revolvers, but I think that is to be expected. Well I suppose any change is bound to solicit some objections. Personally I didn't think it was that big of a deal.

Dear KKG: Perhaps I'm a brash newcomer, but my goal is to join the SWCA. I will need a sponsor who believes my disease is terminal, as I believe is a requirement. I just traded last week a like-new 36 for a chopped retro 38-44 w/ horrible funky grips. It's beautiful. It's the only one I've seen. Proof enough, I hope. Keep me in mind. I want to join. beaver.

I do sponsor new folks into the Association from time to time but so far it has always been after personal contact with the individual. You might Post your location and watch for some of the other Association members who Post here for their locations. Maybe, you'll find a match-up. If you live in the right area you can attend one of the 'local' gatherings such as the Tulsa OK one or maybe one of the ones we have around here from time to time.

Thanks for your reply KKG. I will look for someone closer to home. I'm sorta out in the boonies, so any Central Oregonians want come see me to see if I'm legit, come on over. I'll be obliged. beaver.
