Her next gun is should be a Taurus.
Or maybe a poly framed something.
You know , something disposable.

It sure looks like a dirty gun to start with. It looks like it was in a fire.

It's just bent a little,,,bend it back.
It's just metal and actually quite soft and easy to work with.

I think the 'terrible looking condition' of the side of the revolver is actually the reflection of the sidewalk blocks in the polished blue finish.
The mower blade dents don't help any though.
But I don't think it's in such bad shape that it couldn't be fixed. Being a .22... That gives you a bit more margin of safety to work with when doing stuff like this.

I know the feeling, although for me it was a cell phone not a gun. Out mowing with the phone in my pocket, listening to a podcast. All of a sudden my headphones went silent. R'uh, r'oh!

I like the tale about the Ruger which got a couple shots off at its negligent owner before the mower dismembered it. Hate to see a gun like that go down!
As to the original post, I think she will be carrying the Heritage Rough Rider now.

Here in S. FL I've learned to not carry a gun on my person when out doing hard work out in the woods or other hard outside work. So I get her not wanting to wear one holstered. With the heat and humidity the gun and holster just get too drenched with sweat. You can ruin a good holster pretty quickly. A nylon holster eventually becomes salt encrusted without regular soaking in clean water. Thus my carry method is not always ideal. A working gun used in harsh conditions is not going to stay a pristine collector piece long at all. A working gun is a working gun and accidents can happen.

Not to get off topic - but I've been carrying daily, constantly, for the last 5 or so years and my wife doesn't know. She knows I have a permit, and she's seen me disarm when we go into a concert, but she doesn't know I pack heat pretty much everywhere. I carry a 638 with a Barami Clip Grip, either clipped to the edge of a front pocket, or I slip the gun deep in the pocket if conditions require, like around the house.
They don't call it Concealed Carry for nothing.

I have carried and used a pistol many times to kill poisonous snakes. The pistol is needed when the snake takes
off in a direction where you cannot follow it with a mower.
Also shooting them is “ funner “. Good practice, too.

A friend of mine had his S & W .22 617 Airweight come out of it’s holster a few years ago while we were piling and burning brush in an area where there were lots of copperheads. When the rounds started cooking off, we thought we had started our burn pile in a spot where his grandkids had lost some fireworks or something. After a couple of minutes, my friend noticed his gun was gone.
We later found it in a pile of hot coals and blackened all over.
He ordered a set of new springs for it, buffed the blackened scale off of the barrel and frame, reassembled it, and it worked just fine.
He continued to carry and shoot it for several more years until he died.

If the husband took it apart why did he leave a round in the chamber?

The owner of this G19 left it on his trunk lid. It flew into the ditch after he drove off, right in the path of a mowing crew.

^^^ Another example of a problem created by the failure to use a properly fitted holster. Get your pistol into its holster and leave it there until you need to use it. Not a difficult concept.

Made me think about all of the rural officers that sometimes have to make like a bear in the woods and often temporarily park their gun and belt on the trunk lid although I guess the seat would be better although the passenger side is generally taken up by computers and other assorted "stuff" now days. The gun is removed from the holster as it's much easier to take the belt off and put it on without the weight of the gun dragging it down. Manhunts anyone? I'm sure the same would apply to people other than rural LEO's in similar situations such as working cows, land clearing, etc. There may even be times where gun and belt placement isn't the most critical issue at the moment! I always carried a roll in my trunk just in case. Just watch out for fire ants.

On a side note, I wonder how many LEOs, after returning to patrol, have been on a call and suddenly realized their gun was still locked in a gun locker in the sally port after they transported and booked an arrestee.

I'm not saying some people don't do stupid stuff but anyone can make a mistake while otherwise being responsible.
