At the Ventura County Gun Show back in January, my brother spotted a pre-model M&P in 98-99% condition. The dealer (mostly in modern firearms) was asking $550 and appeared firm. My brother passed, he was on the hunt for other things at the time.
Fastforward to the same gun show yesterday. My brother sees that the dealer has the same pre-model, but he has dropped the price to $445. My brother says, "Now it's a deal I can't pass up." And, he didn't.
He ended up buying it for $425 plus a transfer feed of $50. For his money he got a 1948 Transitional M&P
with short action in 98-99% condition. The serial number is S9994xx. He started telling me how transitionals with short action are hard to come by, etc., but hey, even though I appreciate a nice old revolver, I'm into S&W 3rd Generation pistols and later pre-lock revolvers.
He was pretty excited about the condition and price he got it for. So, was he justified in jumping around like 62 year old
teenager?
I must admit, it's really quite nice.
