Default M Frame Ladysmith Question

This is one (of many) models of S&W that I am not familiar with so I have a couple of questions about one I saw yesterday.

It is a long barrel (not sure about exact length, probably 5 or 6 inches), nickel, target model. The finish appears to be original and in extremely good condition for its age. Its a third model, according to the tag on the gun.

First is a target model of this gun rare/scarce? Is such a gun collectible? What is an approximate value for such a gun, with what I would estimate to be a high 90's finish?

Thanks,

Bill

There was/is a 6" .22 HE third model, and the fixed sight version is less common than the Target.

Others will be along with a value estimate, but if you are a collector and like it I would call one collectible.

I would say a target sighted 6" barreled one is rare. How rare I don't know as I have never seen one in the flesh as to price tough to say SCSW says double to triple a standard one. If you are considering buying it check the forcing cone real good as these were sometimes shot with 22LR which results in damage to the forcing cone.

I'd call them rare----and ridiculous----and most assuredly good for laughs; but they are a Smith & Wesson, and you gotta have what you gotta have.

As to value, the cash probably weighs more than the gun, but we all have to make sacrifices.
