Not RK Mesa worthy but I did find a scratched HD...a few pictures added
The gun spoke to me
The grips did too
The engraving whispered why not.

I just glanced at the grips and saw “2nd generation OM”.

Wow, Santy was good to even you this year. That means there's still hope for me! Waiting for more pics too when you get it home.

Yes. It's actually a "Chicago Screw" that screws together; one side is a male screw and the other side is a female screw/nut. Kind of cheapens the ivory grips.

I want to say that the HD was part of a 6 or 12 gun shipment to, I think, Virginia. I'd have to look in my notes.

That is the same type of screw that was used to hold military manuals together.

That’s a beaut! I can’t fathom why someone would use a Chicago screw in stocks as nice as those. I agree with Jim; that screw has got to go.

I can't find my notes, but I did find these images.
I had this gun on consignment probably about 15 years ago.
I ---think--- that it was part of a shipment to a Virginia/DC area distributor.
The consensus of the people I showed it to was that it may have been purchased for re-sale through the armed forces exchange in the Far East, Japan perhaps.
I had thought about keeping it but money was a bit tight for me at that time.
The gun came from the estate of a dealer down in Westchester who had several hundred handguns. I moved quite a number of them and he had lots of weird stuff. First Liberator I ever sold came out of that estate. LOTS of guns.
Nice catch!

Wow Sir thanks for posting that.
Definitely the same gun...same price tag even.
He did take quite a sum off of it 25% actually.
Guess it was time....he had some cool stuff from his dad....I really liked the man.

That’s a cool gun, Paul. I like the layout of the engraving. Interesting set of period custom Ivory grips too. Congratulations on a nice find!

That "Chicago Screw" is ugly as all 'ell, on there but as it's been there for so long wouldn't you be doing the whole of the revolver a dishonour by replacing it. I would replace it but I'd keep it in a special drawer so that when it was time to sell I could put it back as I got it.
