I recently picked up a hand ejector 3" barrel , the last patent date
is Feb,1908 on the barrel. my questions are on the butt is 3/32" high heavy stamped 98899 but on the frame in the yoke area is a lightly stamped 1/32" high number 48547. Should these numbers be the same? Any ideas on when it was made.
Thanks for any help
Welcome to the forum! The yoke numbers are assembly numbers and will not match serial number from butt. They are used to keep the parts together during soft fitting once the gun is ready for sale they serve no other purpose. What caliber is your handejector? We LOVE pictures!
Welcome to the forum.
The two numbers are different because the one on the butt is the serial number and the one on the yoke is an assembly number to keep parts together at the factory.
There should be a caliber marking on side of the the barrel, ending in the abbreviation CTG for cartridge. That info would help us narrow things down for you.
The serial number from the bottom of the grip frame is read with the barrel pointing to the right. If it is 98899 it was made in about 1910, and 66886 in about 1907. It is likely a .32 Hand Ejector. Here is a post with needed information for an ID:
