Transition model .32HE ?
Attached are photos of my recently purchased .32 Hand ejector. It has a number of features that make me believe it is a transition model. I would like to try and date it. Your help is always appreciated.
Serial no. 602252 My guess would be 95%
(From 4th edition S&W)
2 in barrel - post 1940
5 screw- pre 1956
coil spring instead of leaf spring - circa 1953
1.25 in cylinder
serrated trigger
ramp site - ? not round site
logo on left side Smith & wesson on left side of barrel, 32 long ctg on right side of barrel, 4 line address on right frame.
grips numbered to gun
box numbered to gun
Looks like gun in upper right corner of photo on page 144

Great find and very nice gun.
A little too new to be a Post War Transitional Model though. Those were "6 screw" guns counting the leaf spring tension screw and all had the 1/2 round sight.

Your .32 Hand Ejector 5 screw does look like the gun at the upper right of the photo because that's what it is, and notice it's labeled "Post-war Late Improved I-frame" with a ramped front sight and barrel rib. The 2nd gun on the left in the photo is a Transitional Model, notice the half round sight. It's happens to be a .32 Regulations Police version hence has square butt stocks. But the .32 Hand Ejector Transitional model is the same except for stocks.
The bottom gun on the left is the .32 Hand ejector Early Improved I-frame 5 screw and still has the half round sight.

This one is just a smidge earlier, July 1952. Would be a 32 H E, Imp I Frame, 1st Variation.
