***FOUND ONE*** REMOVE POST PLEASE mid 50's gun box for the K22 Combat Masterpiece
Any info on where to track one down would be great. Watching eBay and GunBroker. Am I correct that the box used was gold and just said K22 Masterpiece on the top right but the end was labeled Combat Masterpiece 4" blued ?
Also what was originally included with the gun in these boxes?
Thanks for any and all assistance

Most I have seen are relabeled K22 Masterpiece boxes. They came with wax paper, warranty card, Helpful Hints, parts list. brush, mop, cleaning rod, and SAT. Big Larry

All correct except there won't be a parts list or white warranty card till model numbers were assigned, around late 1957 or 58.

Here is what the paste-on label looks like when they used a K-38 Masterpiece gold box to ship a .38 Combat Masterpiece. They used a similar label for a .22 Combat Masterpiece

Yes. By '54 or so, S&W was in a process of phasing out the gold boxes. Both blue (in this case, the early dark blue) boxes and gold boxes were in use.
If vrichard's box had been used to ship a Combat Masterpiece, it would have had a paper label like the one Walter showed pasted over that embossed end label, just as they were for the gold boxes.
One side note: Notice that the 6" gun is labeled as a K-22 Masterpiece. The Combat Masterpiece was labeled as a 22 Combat Masterpiece, not a K-22 Combat Masterpiece (see Walter's 38 Combat Masterpiece label). This was consistent with the catalog designations and the All Model Circulars. They didn't call the Combat Masterpiece a K-22 or K-38.

I have a late 5 screw wide rib K22 Masterpiece that letters with the target stocks. It does not fit in any of my blue or gold 22 boxes. How did they ship them? Big Larry

Hello Lee.
Does this hold true for a late 60's M41? I just bought an early,# 94999 M41 with EFS, NIB with wax paper and 2 magazines. Box is numbered to the pistol. Thanks, Big Larry
