Default Round Butt Model 10

Not wanting to derail the round butt combat magnum thread, I have a question.
Wondering how uncommon my no dash round butt 4" model 10 might be? Looks factory.
Thanks in advance.

Here is a recently resurrected thread about a similar gun to yours:

Ralph:

I do not know how unusual a RB Model 10 is, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help us out with that question.
I do know that shortly after the turn of the century, there were many 4" M&P's that shipped with the round butts. In the meantime, we'd love to see some photos.

RB model 10s in barrel lengths longer than 3" (before the complete conversion to all RB frames) are unusual. Second the request for photos.

The round butt was always available, but they are not common.
Here is a 10-5 with the original receipt for $71.50 in Aug, 1965. "Shells" were $4.85 for a total of $76.35. Apparently there was no sales tax in Minnesota.
The funny thing is that those "shells" would cost almost that much at present!

I picked up this RB 10-8 a few months ago from GB. It's currently at the gunsmith getting a barrelectomy.

Serial number is C5370xx, think that is 1961 on this no dash.
Hate the flipped pic.

Here's my 4" round butt Model 10-5 that I picked up in a pawn shop in Shawnee, OK in 1999. I didn't particularly want it but I couldn't pass it up at the price of $130. Manufactured around 1976-76 per the SCSW. Except for some scuffs on the grips it's in excellent shape.

That is a beauty. Hope you don't mind, I cropped and rotated the pic - I hate flipped pics as well...

Do the grips number to the gun?

Mind? I tried editing and it was still cockeyed.
Yes, the grips number to the gun, alas no box, though.

I was issued one in 1968 but always preferred the square butt models.

My younger brother's first issued service revolver in 1970 as a MPDC (Wash. DC.) officer was a round butt 4" standard barrel Model 10. I remember thinking back then that the RB was a bit odd...... but I LIKED it !
Back when police depts were all getting "Glocked", I picked up on of the many el-cheapo trade-in square butts. After one afternoon in the shop I had a round butt M10

Some photos of one that I recently gave to my PA son, U.S.Army (now a Captain), down at Ft.Hood:

It's a M10-5, 4" RB, "U.S." marked, sn D154xxx; mfg'd 1969, probably destined for South Vietnam, but given it's condition I don't think that it ever made it there.
