Newest Revolver
A bit of an anomaly; looks too good to be an original nickeled gun (looks like blue under a spot where some nickel has flaked) and the screw holes look dished somewhat - but at least they didn’t nickel the hammer and trigger! Five screws, so 1905 M&P? What change #?
Most recent patent date is July 7, 03; left side of barrel, two lines; .38 S&W Special, 2nd line: U.S. Service Ctg’s.
Serial number on cylinder and frame match; on the butt of the gun looking at the s/n left side up, it is upside down.

Hammer, trigger and ejector knob all not nickeled. Side plate line looks good. Looks righteous to me, but I am far from a expert. Is the extractor star blued?

Why wouldn't you think it's original? Looks righteous to me too.
No star or date. A blued ejector star is also a tell, as mentioned above.

Nothing wrong I see no evidence of a refinish looks completely righteous to me. The spot you are seeing where the nickle flaked has probably just turned blue with age. Remember bluing is just controlled rust.... nice looking one!

Look for a "B" in front of the SN under the barrel. If no "B", it was shipped as a nickel revolver.

I took some better photos tonight; I’ll get them up tomorrow. Took the stocks off; the right stock has the matching serial number stamped into it. The bore looks like it’s hardly had any rounds through it!
If it is original I think I got a great deal; if it’s been refinished whoever did it was a professional in my limited opinion…

It shoots! Went to the range with my stepson, visiting from Cancun today. Colt Government Special Target .38 Super, Colt Combat Commander .45, Sig RCS .45 (Officer’s frame, Commander slide), H&K USP Tactical .45, and the 1905.
I have around 500 rounds of factory .38 Long Colt ammo and shot 3 cylinders full. After the .45 acp and .38 Super the .38LC was like shooting a .22 Magnum except I think the .22 Magnum’s “crack” is crisper!
