Default 1955 .38 Bodyguard Airweight, 4-screw -- have one?

Howdy,

Dr. Jinks' History of Smith & Wesson, says S&W completed the first model on August 15, 1955. The serial numbers began in the J-frame 66000 range, first-year production was 2,422, and they were built on 4- screw frames. (Did those early 4-screws have the small retainer screw on the upper side plate screw?)

To my knowledge I've not seen one. It has become my "grail" J-frame.

My first one is 89450, a 3-screw, which shipped in July '56. Not a prom queen, but its numbers match, and it's not cracked.

If you have one, 4- screw or 3-screw, will you please share photos and your early Bodyguard's details?

Thank you.

Had my 1st M-38 in the 70's. My wife keeps the 649 in her car. This 38 is a -1, I think. The picture has appeared before.

Not very early though.
