Welcome to the forums from the cotton and peanut covered plains of the Wiregrass! The OD is 1948 and the 2 HDs are 1946-7.

Are the HDs 4”? I’ll check tomorrow, but the outdoorsman could have a 1946 ship date. Pre war guns do not have a “S” prefix.

I think this question was for me? Anyway, yes, I have one. A refinished 4" from 1956.
The correct grips for your Outdoorsman should be sharp shouldered magnas similar to the ones below on my .38 M&P.

Eddie,
Most likely the HDs were shipped in July 1946. Your Outdoorsman was shipped in Nov 1946. The grips for the OD should be N Frame Magnas.
Go to my website which is linked in my post to see some HDs.
I hope this helps,
Bill

EddieHD - I have an Outdoorsman, S71261, shipped November 1946. It has magna stocks with the matching serial number stamped on one panel, and 'MADE IN U.S.A.' stamped on the right-hand side below the cylinder. Yours and mine are 260 units apart from each other. S&W didn't ship in sequential order but they did make frames and assemble complete guns in large batches immediately following the war, 1946 through 1949. Yours and mine may have been manufactured and assembled within a few days/weeks of each other. A historical letter wii confirm when and where your OD was shipped. Post a pic or two if you can.

Eddie, Outdoorsman S71261 shipped 11/4/46 to Northwest Hardware Co., Portland, OR. 20 units in the shipment. It lived in the area for over 66 years until I bought it from a gun shop in Longview, WA in February 2013. I'll post a pic soon.
