Looking for info on a M&P Victory
I have what appears to be a M&P Victory. SN: V185354. 2 1/2” barrel, 5 screw. Numbers all match on the Frame, Barrel flat and Cylinder. There are no caliber markings on the barrel, no markings on the barrel except the SN on the flat.
Looks to have been redone. Grips are the fake Mother of Pearl plastic grips.
TIA

Welcome to the forums from the cotton and peanut covered plains of the Wiregrass! Yep, a Victory from 1942. It was probably a .38 British Service Revolver and originally chambered in .38 S&W but reamed to accept .38 Special cartridges. The barrel was cut to a couple of inches and the front locking lug was removed. We see this type of mod a lot. If you will post a picture of the cylinder chambers with back lighting so inside the chambers can be seen, an expert can tell you if it has been reamed or is an original .38 Special.

Wiregrassguy,
Thanks. Here are a couple of pics of the chambers. As close as I can measure, 1.156 on the depth to the shoulder

Well, it doesn't looked reamed to me. But, I'm not an expert. It was probably a US Victory in .38 Special before the barrel was cut. If the serial number under the barrel matches the cylinder and butt, it's all original except for the barrel cut.

I can't be 100% sure, but it probably has an original .38 Special cylinder. Re-bored .38 S&W cylinders usually show two steps. With the shortened barrel and other modifications, it really doesn't make any difference in its value, generally considered minimal by collectors as it is no longer in original condition. Nor is the plating factory original. SN V185354 would likely have shipped in late 1942, probably December. Chopped Victories are generally OK as utilitarian shooters, but have no collector value.

I agree with DWalt. The visible shoulder is too far toward the front to be original .38 S&W, which usually looks about halfway down the chamber. See example below:

Thank you all for the info. Should be a fun shooter just not as snappy as my J frame.
