And now we wait - It's Here!
Successful bidder on an auction lot this morning. Now playing the FFL waiting game.
In the meantime, lets see who can figure out what S118277 is
No auction googling allowed. Serial number knowledge only please.
No prizes for the winner(s) other than the ability to bask in the glory of their superior historical knowledge.
Go.......

I would wager a pre-27 from 1954 - 1955. 6 1/2".

Four inch barrel
There's a whole bunch of them in the S118XXX range.

Dang... I was really hoping to see a 5" .357 Magnum with exposed front sight pins... But I am looking forward to seeing the 44 Special.

Muley Gil and tennexplorer get the honors
This one threw me for a loop when I saw the serial number listed as S118277. I have S118227 (also a 4" 1950) in the safe now.
It does have exposed sight pins just for RKMesa.
They'll make a good pair.

What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports did that prickly pear do to make you want to kick it in the first place???

Picked up from the funstore this morning. This shop specializes in tupperware and bottom feeders. The new-to-me Smith got passed around to everyone in the store because no one had ever felt a 1950's Smith trigger.
It's clean, but it was obviously overlubed for storage long ago. The exterior isn't oily....it's slimy and gummy. Not quite cosmoline, but close. I can only image what the inside looks like.
I won't have time for a full tear down and deep clean until next week. I'll get more detailed photos then.
For now, here are a couple of family photos with the new addition:

Speaking of S118 guns, does anyone know where S118087 is?
