I would bet a dollar against a donut that the letter for that guns shows it was shipped to Rex Firearms in NY when it left the factory. If so, I used to own one of its litter mates from that shipment or one just like it to Rex.

Another nice pinto. It reminds me of my 6.5" pre-27 (S129601) that shipped Jan 1955 to Charles Greenblatt Co, NYC. [EDIT - I just saw your post of the pre-27 6.5" pinto which is a close match to this one]:
