Registered Magnum stocks
Picked up a very nice S&W Registered Magnum recently which needs a set of S&W RM stocks. Would appreciate any leads on the availability of a set.
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. A kind forum member has offered a very nice set, I bought it, and am appreciative!

Wish I could help with the stocks. But how about some pictures of your Registered Magnum?

What he said.
On the other hand, if your registration number is below 466, you want the service style; 'cause 466 was the first with Magnas. It was shipped to the Argentine government for testing-----doesn't say what they were going to test. It was finished on September 17, 1935.
Now that doesn't count numbers 0372 and 0373 which were finished on September 16, 1935 to allow for comparison testing of the new stocks and the standard stocks with grip adaptors. (Yeah, I know adapters is misspelled, but maybe it wasn't in 1935.) As for the whereabouts of 0372 ans 0373, Don Mundell probably has them squirreled away under his bed.
If this is all thoroughly confusing, it was probably supposed to be.
Ralph Tremaine
Well, it took awhile; but it finally dawned on me you need a letter; never mind the Service or Magna. RM's were shipped with Service or Magna made out of wood, and they were also shipped with unknown styles made from Pearl, Ivory, and Stag-------and Ropers (made out of wood). Of course, if you're a free spirit----purists be damned, you can put on whatever grips you please--------never mind anything. If it feels good, do it!!

There was a set of pre-war magnas on eBay not long ago, $695 I think, they might still be there. Also one of our fellow forum members had a nice set of the service stocks in the Classifieds here recently, might still be there, I didn't check. Whichever you need, grab them when you see them because you won't see many. Good luck.

BBT:
You might check with Forum member George in SD (also a S&WCA member). He often has hard to find stocks, boxes, tools and Reg. Mag. items.
BTW, if you have not already done so you might want to add the data on your new RM to the newly rejuvenated S&WCA Database on the pre-war .357s on the new Member site.
Hope the suggestion on George is helpful to you.

Great suggestion Charlie. bbtrout, if you want to add the data on your RM to the S&WCA Pre-war .357 Magnum database, please check out this thread: Pre-War .357 Magnum Database

Magna Stocks
Reg #275 had Magna stocks. Was part of a 2 gun order that went to Potchernick's in San Antonio, TX.
Original order was for REG 657 and 658. 658 was changed to 275 because DB Wesson had reserved 658 for Jim Smith.
A bit of trivia that was uncovered in my research on REG #657.
