1952 U S R A Trophy gun
I won this in the last Amoskeag auction. I really wanted this as I have a couple hundred USRA Medals and other memorabilia. There is another forum and SWCA member that has the 1951 USRA Trophy gun. We plan on displaying them together in the future.

Wow thats an incredible piece of history. I’m not sure what’s better the stocks or the gun itself!

Fabulous!
Love the grips. I've never seen another pair signed by Gagne.

Don.
You are killing me here.
Those stocks are out of this world, and undoubtedly one of the neatest sets of Ropers I've ever seen.
The gun isn't shabby either, but I think we all know where my heart is in this. If that gun just had normal grips on it I would think it was the coolest thing... the stocks just take it into the stratosphere.

Don, I'd have bought that gun just for the grips!
Truly a unique pair, and a great gun.

I don't have it yet. The description says it is in a fitted case. I take pictures of it when it arrives.

Ben
I have another pair of Ropers similar to these. There is a raised area above the cylinder release that allows operation of the release. I suspect this is done the same way. We'll see once I get it.

The trophy gun is cool, but as others noted above, the signed Gagne-carved grips are over-the-top way, way, way cool.
Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing them in person at some future Symposium.

As the owner of the other trophy gun mentioned by Don above, I am reluctant to now post photos after seeing the stocks on his. Mine is wearing plain stocks and seems pale by comparison. Since we are under construction, my home is upside down but I will try to dig out my gun and snap some shots. (pun intended)
My gun does connect to the Springfield Revolver Club and was won by a Massachusetts resident so it holds a special connection for me.

I'd be more then happy to babysit your trophy gun while your house is upside down. I'll even drive out and bring it here. I have a cars seat for it.

Don, it seems like it ended up where it need to be, congratulations ! The grips are certainly one of a kind with the owners name carved in relief but but in addition to that there are several rather rare features. I watched but didn't bid, only dreamed.

Another one of those time when the like button seems so inadequate. There should be an "anybody want to buy a kidney?" button.

I haven't even seen a shipping notice. But then I've had issues with Amoskeag in the past.

Very nice. Glad you got it. I received my Amoskeag wins on 12/2, and have never had a problem, although I have usually paid the credit card premium. I am surprised it took so long for you. Water under the bridge now that you have it.

Wow Don, yet another really nice revolver. When you get all these really nice revolvers, do you get a Roy Jinks letter, or one from that other guy?????

And what were those purchases?
IDK, IMHO patience is a virtue. I would rather wait and just pay less, but to each his own.
I requested a delay on my shipment, although maybe it would have shipped at the same time, but I received my packages from Amoskeag on Sat 18 December.

Don,
I was poking around old newspapers on the internet and found these related items. Thought they may be of interest.

Great gun Don,
I love those grips and the rare features!
I don't recall ever seeing Ropers with a engraved name on them.
I wonder If these grips were made for presentation with the gun shown or if they were ordered by the Dr before 1952?
The way the cylinder release is tucked under the grip I wonder if a prewar release fits as well.

Here is the case. You'll note how the case is made to hold the front of the barrel in the case. I wonder if Gagne made the case as well. The bottom had gray felt covering the bottom. Yes, I have the key.

No, they didn't know who was going to win the match.
No, he didn't know he was going to win it.
