I bought an S&W revolver from a local pawn shop. It is a hand ejector type. The number on the bottom of the grip is C 77389.
I'm most interested in the date of manufacture.

That’s a .38 Special Military & Police revolver that dates to the early 1950’s. I’d guess early 1951.

In 1948-1951 #s C1-C223998 were manufactured.

Yours likely in 1949 and could have shipped (dates are known but only available by buying a Historical letter) within days or months of the actual manuf. date which are not known.
