Default .44 HE Info

Looking at a .44 HE s/n 60460 is this transitional? It’s 5” really clean asking 2500.00 is this to high.

If no S preceding the serial number it is pre war, somewhere around 1940 for a ship date.
If it is S60460 probably 1946 to 1948.
Fixed sight guns and target sight guns are different models and can change value considerably.

That is a Pre War gun. Likely 1940 as stated. It probably has a shroud around the ejector rod. If so, it is a 44-3rd Model, aka the Model 1926. If there is no shroud, it is a 44-2nd Model. That late a gun should have magna grips that are numbered to it.

There is an S it’s an inch or so away from the first digit if that helps. I’m also looking at I believe is a pre 21, s/n s149651 it’s in great shape maybe 90% same price basically. Don’t know if magna’s number to the guns though look to be correct.

Something is wrong here.

If that S is on the butt of the gun, I think you have the serial number wrong. I have never seen an S numbered gun with a number anywhere near that low.
