Default 6" K22 SN Look-Up Please

Can someone tell me what year a S&W K-22 Masterpiece, 5 Screw was manufactured or delivered that has the serial number K 60001? It does have the 4 line factory address.

Much Appreciated,

I think it probably shipped in early 1949. However, known serials are all over the place showing S&W did not ship in SN order.

K-22 serial K56225 was shipped in November 1948. K-22 Pre-Mod 17 serial K57760 was shipped in December 1948. K-22 serial K61357 shipped in July 1949. Pre-17 serial K66882 was shipped in April 1949.

That gun shipped in Oct 1948.

Edit: Sorry I gave you the wrong info. I had it in my unofficial data base as Oct. At least I have the correct date now.

Guy is correct about this one being on the cusp of 1948-49. Note especially the sentence I put in bold type in his quote.

BUT, it turns out that I have K60001 in my list of known ship dates. That one left Springfield in December, 1948.

My K-22 (K40403) also has the four-line address, and is an early 1948 revolver.

My K61,XXX shipped December 1948. One thing for certain is that your revolver was manufactured in 1948.
