Little Help on a New to Me Model 25 (no dash)
I won this one last week on an internet auction (pictures below). I received it today, and I am a happy camper. It is a 4 screw with a 6 & 1/2" barrel. Shortly after my winning bid, I obtained a ship date from Mr. Jinks (Thanks Sir). The ship date was June of 1961. The serial number is S209002.
It came with a set of Herrett Stocks (I believe). I will want to obtain a set of factory stocks if I can find them. It could be a bit of a challenge. My question is what are the correct stocks? I know they will be Diamond Targets but would they of been relieved or non- relieved?
Thanks for any help.

That’s very nice! I can understand wanting period S&W stocks on it but I like the ones on it a lot.
Old style bullseye stocks would be a hoot to go to the range and shoot some 25yd. slow fire targets like back in the day. 😎

Very very nice. I believe you want stocks with the football shaped relief.

Very nice Model 25, and in the box! Is that end label original to the period and the box? Those "Herrett" stocks are nice, but I can understand you wanting to have a set of originals, too. Should be a great shooter! You may want to consider a little TLC for the box to help preserve it. Use a little white glue with clamps, and straighten the corner supports- that will really help. I also use Renaissance Wax on the box's exterior to keep the cardboard protected. I never store my revolvers in their boxes or presentation cases, either. Enjoy!

Non-relieved target stocks were used in the early 50's. Football cutout (extractor relief) diamond stocks from the mid-50's into the mid to late 60's. Ebay can be your friend, but you will pay salty, regardless the source.
Adios,
Pizza Bob

Thankyou Pizza Bob, I suspected they would come at a hefty price. That is when and if I can find a set. I also appreciate Haug Rider's comments. I am a Renaissance Wax fan.
