Info for S&W 38 special
Trying to ID my revolver.
I have a hand ejector model. 38 special ctg. Serial # k139037. Adjustable sight. 6” barrel

Looks like a pre-1957 K 38 Masterpiece. After 1957 became the Model 14. One of the finest target revolvers ever made. Used by many Law Enforcement agencies for many years.

It is a K-38 Masterpiece from 1952, probably early in the year, based on ship dates for nearby serial numbers.
The stocks are a bit newer - if you take them off, check for a serial number (minus the K) on the inside of the right panel. I'd bet it doesn't match the gun's number.
Either way, it is a great gun. Congrats.

Show us a clearer pic of the serial number on the barrel, and also the LEFT side of the grip frame with the grip removed like this----
That may be a Factory refinished gun.
