Default Smith & Wesson Model of 1903, 2nd change with open on the books letter

This letter seemed to be of minor interest over on the private side simply because a definitive ship date could not be provided, but a manufacture date of late Summer of 1910 was hypothesized. Ed Cornett (opoefc) states that foreman’s records suggest a manufacture date of 03 September 1910.

Posted here on the public side for the edification of those not on the private side.

Certainly not a high condition revolver but purchased due to the very low asking price at the local gun shop several years ago and because the low purchase price justified purchasing a factory letter.

No doubt this revolver once belonged to Annie Oakley. The factory letter doesn’t state otherwise.

I think I remember hearing that she used that revolver in her shows.
