Did anyone notice these grips?
Did anyone notice or watch these Coke grips on eBay last month?

Yes. I did watch them, but I cannot remember what they went for...? For the right well-used 44 Magnum, they would be the perfect grips...

Yep, took a lot of will power for me not to bid on them. I figured with the cost of a refinish/checker they'd still be a really good buy.

Yes, I saw them, put on my watchlist and then forgot to bid. Pretty good deal for $161.50 I think.

Do my eyes deceive or does one grip have diamond and the other doesn’t.

I was the winning bidder and thought I might be able to "fix-em-up". After a few weeks of on & off effort, I was able to get them back to almost normal. Well worth the time in my estimation.
MD, I have seen quite a few "Cokes" that did not match color wise or even the grain in the wood. "Cokes" were special grips for the the early .41's & .44's, but I think S&W still considered then utilitarian as far as trying to match color & grain.
I am toying with the idea to try and match the stain a little closer and clean up the bottom boarders. I have a few more photos of the process in anyone is interested.
Thanks for all the comments,
Gary

Here are some shots as they are now. As you can see in the shot of the bottom of the grips, probably two different lots of wood.
I sure wish I knew how to rotate the photos, maybe the Moderator can help, Thanks

If the pictures rotate after you post them, crop the original picture just a little and they’ll post properly oriented.
Very impressive restoration. They look great!
I have a set of 2nd Gen python grips that need your magic

Very impressive restoration on those! You obviously have talent for that type of work. There's probably a few members here that would love to see similar improvements on their stocks.
What are you putting them on? Pics?

Larry,
No, I have been doing it for a good number of years. Just wanted to get really proficient before showing off....HA! Lots of trial & error, and still learning. Every grip is a little different.
I miss visiting with Charly at Tulsa.

Excellent job, and a lot of envy for your skills. It would be interesting to see the tools you used, too. I recently made a search, and I saw there are different blades to do that job
