Default Chiefs Special 3" Nickel flat latch

I picked this up locally last week and am very happy to add it to my nickel collection. Roy says it shipped May, 1955.

S/N on one grip, butt, barrel, under extractor and cylinder, N on frame and in barrel channel. 11 ridge flat latch. Original box with S/N in white on bottom and modified label.

The box lid has unusual symbols at the corners of the double silver border. I don't remember seeing these before... Are they a secret symbol or artistic endeavor?

Al

Oh, my.

I'm quivering.

Handsome and gorgeous.

Congrats.

ps: I can't comment on the corner borders on the box. Maybe Hondo44 or another aficionado can answer your question.

I pulled out my blue 3" Chiefs Special that shipped in February 1955. My box has the same artwork on each corner as yours. It hadn't caught my eye before. My Centennial shipped in January 1955. Obviously it's a 2". Its box does not have the artwork in the corners.

Really nice! The symbols on the corners are of a secret society that had special ordered those guns. Don't ask. If I told you I would have to kill you.
