Default 44 SPECIALS A LOOK BACK

The following does not include my current triple lock or 2nd model. Was fortunate to acquire them from a Forum member. These will go out with me.

KNEW I FORGOT TO ADD,THESE ARE LONG GONE, JUST MEMORIES EXCEPT FOR THE TWO MENTIONED IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH. REGRET THE CONFUSION

1950 44 TARGET 44 SPECIALS

My search started in 1970/1971. Would call every gun shop that I could find. Finally in 1972 I found it. It was a 1950 44 target with the 4” barrel exactly what Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton were repeating over & over. Was in heaven. Went to pick it up and is a blue and nickel 44. Now who would want that. Now don’t get sick because it was sent back to S&W to have them do satin nickel finish the entire gun. Had the three T’s and a box. The serial # was S 99875. My cost was $140.00 not including the satin nickel.

Following the above ,over a course of time, we’re 4 more 61/2” Target 1950’s, one of which was a two tone, and one other 4” gun.

TRIPLE LOCKS

TWO 61/2” Target models and ONE 4” Target model ( was told by my old friend Ray Brazille it was once owned by the famous knife maker, Loveless)
Also owned TWO 61/2 fixed sight TL’s ( one of which was a nickel redo with a horrible refinish.

2nd Model HE

Had Three 61/2” fixed sight models

1926 MILITARY

Had TWO 5” Blue and one 4” blue 1926 models. One of the 4” guns had a nickel finish. Finally there was one with King sights and a box

Not going to list the 24-3’s or 624’s. They do not fit this discussion.

Willing to bet I am far from alone with this story. For us older gents as Satchel Paige said “ Don’t look back something might be gaining on you”

I'm confused. Are these guns you currently have or guns you no longer have?
If you still have them, we need pictures.

If the Truth be known, I really wanted to own at least one 5 inch 44 Special.
But you got to play the cards you are dealt.
For a number of years I ran I Buy Guns Ads.
I was running other ads in our local Free convenience store papers and in some cases getting deals on ads, run 3, get one free etc.
Got a lot of weird calls, scam calls, etc.
But I got some good ones.
Guy calls and says, are you interested in some older Smith and Wesson Revolvers? Yes! So I rush down to see those guns.
He’s in dire straits, down to three guns he didn’t really want to sell.
Second, Third and Fourth Model HEs. All 44 Special, 6 1/2, Blue, Targets.
Yes, Targets Ladies and Gentlemen.
I still have all three.
Here’s the Second Model.
