Default New shoes for my psuedo TL and a hearty Thanks!

You may remember my thread with the beautiful Sambar N frame grips that ended up on my "Micro" modded model 1917 45.?

It left my Spanish TL shoe-less and someone suggested I contact a fellow forum member to fashion a new pair of shoes.

I contacted him and we started a fascinating exchange of templates, rough cut walnut grips, fit by me to the frame and back for finishing and checkering, these grips have traveled further than me in last month than I have in years!

Here is the result, beautiful and functional, any not quite right edges is all me as I fit them.

Thanks Curtis! I enjoyed the process immensely and am happy with the result.

Right? So the original grips were replica grips, these would be re-replica grips? Now my head hurts.

Yes it is, it is almost an exact copy inside, most were a little different, but I wanted to make this about the forum member mostly to avoid being cast to the "other brands" forum, although nothing wrong with that!

This one is circa 1929 , P Aranzabal, the factories and machinery, (let alone the craftsman) were destroyed in the civil war from what I understand.

Very nice! Curt really knows his stuff.
That revolver and now the stocks really make a nice package. The more I look at it the more I like it.
Have you shot it yet?

I have just a couple rounds, I just got done taking the TL mechanism apart to tighten it up a little, came out good, tighter lockup now. I'll take it out with it's new stocks and see how it does, I'll do a "range report" perhaps..
