away from this one. It didn't take long for me to change my mind. I did have to call a friend to ask if it was worth the price.

Don't know how many 5" TLs were made but here's one more. Lots of blue wear, but barrel and lock works are excellent.

You done good. There aren't many 5" TLs out there. I got lucky a few years back and got one from Lyle Larkworthy. It is a GREAT shooter.

This gun is a good study in some characteristics of original-finish guns from the
period.

While there is wear to the edges and corners, they are still relatively sharp. On a
refinished gun, all the edges generally get buffed, to where they lose their sharpness.

On the picture of the left side, there are three pins, that still show up clearly.
The first is the trigger stud, directly above the trigger and just forward of the
cylinder frame lug. The second is the rebound-slide-spring retaining pin, just forward
of the top of the grip. Usually, on a refinished gun, these get filed and polished
flat. The third, the hammer stud, right near the cylinder release thumbpiece, is
nice and clean. Its end sits in a slighted dished hole, that usually becomes much more
dished on a refinished gun.

Thats a nice looking TL. You hardly even see them at gunshows around here in Texas.

Lee, the jewelry was the clincher. You really don't think I would have given that much money for this gun without the jewelry.

Nice old War Horse,

Last weekend I was sitting and talking with Larry G who has upwards of 95 Triplelocks and He was telling me he thinks the 5" guns are harder to find than any other barrel length. He said he only had 2 in his entire collection. Not sure how scientific it is but that would make it around 5% or less of the Triple Locks are 5", at least in his collection.

Hi Steve,

well like I said the 5% has no value really as I am not sure what the actual numbers. If you take my collection of 2 Triple Locks 1 is a 5" so that would mean 50%.

I trust Larry and his knowledge is above most collectors I know. beside owning 95+ has to but him as the #1 T-Lock owner in the country

I wonder what opoefc has to say?
