Default 1957 History: S&W rifling specifications from H.P. White

My Canadian correspondent has some papers that came from another collector who bought them from H.P. White when that company ended.

In 1957, data on S&W barrel specifications were provided by Fred Miller at the request of Burton Munhall.

I've combined the separate data cards to meet the upload limit. There's a separate card for each caliber. We infer that the cards were provided by H.P. White and filled in by S&W.

Dear Mr. Munhall:

Here is the information that you requested, and this data has been
taken directly from the drawings from which we work, and is correct
as of this date.

As far as I can learn, and as I understand the situation, we use
these same specifications for all guns in the same caliber.
That is to say, the Kit Gun has the same specifications as the 22/32
Target, 22 Combat Masterpiece, the K-22, and the new 22 Automatic as
yet not released.

The same will apply in the other calibers, with apparently this one
exception. In 45 caliber, for reasons as yet unexplained to me, we
have a .001" difference in the land diameter between the corresponding
specification in the target model.

I presume this is for reasons of accuracy, but at any rate I am giving
you one card on the military specifications and another one on
the target specifications.

I believe this will make it possible for you to make an accurate
application of this data for your files and for the project that you
outlined for us here at the office.

Trusting that the above will meet with approval, and with kindest
regards as always, I remain,

Cordially yours,

SMITH & WESSON, INC.
