Default Pre-Victory - another one joins the stable

Well, added another one and pretty excited as it's a six-inch barrel example and importantly to me at least, a Canadian contract.

I've seen some pristine examples of these - this isn't one of them, but I seem to have a soft spot (and budget) for those with a bit of character. I removed the stocks and they, along with all the other serials, match. S/N for the database is 735862.

It complements my Canadian-marked five-inch smooth stock example from what I was advised on another thread here is a latter half of '41/early '42 example.

Pictures now, shot in fading light…

Thanks in advance, and I'll post back when I get the letter from Mr. Jinks.

Closest on my list is 7367xx, which shipped in 2/41.

This one is 917XXX. It has the Canadian proof. The experts here told me that it shipped in January 1942. That was the first month they came with the smooth combat stocks. It also has the earlier black magic finish instead of the rough Victory finish. Within a month or two the V hit and the finish went to the rough wartime type (or so I've been told).

I'm going to get the letter, so looking forward to seeing how far off in the production timeline mine is to that example.
