I would like to build a copy of a Berns-Martin holster but have question about the springs around the cylinder. Are these TWO curved half springs on BOTH sides of the cylinder? Thanks to Gizmo's (sic) great picture on the "belly gun" thread, I now see how the trigger guard area is put together. I can see how the springs are stitched on.

Here's a cut from a 1950's Berns-Martin catalog with their description of the spring. It is a single tempered steel spring, sometimes referred to as a C spring due to it's shape.I would be happy to send you a Berns-Martin holster to copy from;you may keep it as long as you need & return it when you're done.

Nice pic of that catalog, John, thanks for sharing it with us.
I have a few B-M rigs and they're my favorites.

Woe, Lee! Thanks but I wouldn't dare take it apart. The rig can be copied without doing that. And I would do without rather than mess with it. The springs, or spring that is, is the only obstacle, I think.

Lee,of course you could take it apart & put it back together with the original stitching so no one could tell it wasn't straight from the maker-you could do that, couldn't you?? but us mere mortals will have to settle for inspection only.Wyatt,it's Witty,as in clever & humorous, not Twitty as in revered country singer. I haven't received an email yet but will respond as soon as I do.
Lee,I'm very happy you've taken over this forum.

turnerriver

Hey Turneriver,
That catalog got any pictures of the "Lightning" shoulder holster? My wife just picked up one that is floral carved and I'd like to learn a little more about what the maker said about them.
Thanks!

Hey THANKS for the Lightning catalog page. Pretty neat. Mine is a triple draw as it has the belt loop on the back.
I'm going to borrow a friends camera to take some pictures as mine doesn't give good detail on closeups. I'll post them here when I get them taken, hopefully later this week.
