Converted to .45 Colt, which is my very favorite pistol caliber, a Gunbroker auction.
Reblued
Ivory grips
Good bore
Asking: $400
Why This one:
1)fixed sights
2) N-frame
3) .45 Colt
This one would make a nice bookend for my Colt New Service .455/.45LC... Thoughts on $400 for this or a lead on a rechambered Mk II HE for a better price? AFAIK there never was a fixed sight civilian N-frame in .45 Colt besides a very few Triple Locks and 1950s and a TL or 1950 is waaaaay too much money right now.

If yer talking about genuine ivory grips , they'd be worth almost half the asking price. Don't know how it was 'converted' so since the .45 Colt rim is thinner than the .45 ACP + clip thickness , it would have a replaced cylinder for proper headspace. I wouldn't pay that much , but since you want a .45 Colt , only you can say if it's worth $400 to you.

Yeah, just a few fixed sight N frames. 38/44 HD, first, second and third Model .44's and 1917/.455.
You could sell off the Ivories and have less in the gun.
I don't know about buying online. Is it worth 400+shipping+FFL fees?
That's a question only you can answer.

Clarification: The Seller and I are both in the same State so it would be an FTF deal; the $$$ involved in the transfer would be gas to get 1/2 way to him. TN is a WIDE State. Grips might be Pearl or something similar. Most sites have rules against posting live auctions, so no link.

That's a tough one. It would be worth a lot more if it had never been converted. (Depending on condition, of course).
If I wanted a shooter (which is all this one is) I would save my money and be on the look out for a more modern S&W that left the factory chambered for .45 Colt.
