I recently aquired a 1905 4th change, .38 M & P,
ser # 5108xx, that my research seems to indicate was made in the mid to late 1920's. Can anyone tell me if I am in the ballpark or further narrow down the DOB. Thanks.

See page 5 of FAQs. I recall that 500,000 was shipped around 1927.

SaxonPig,
Thanks for your quick response. I must be blind but I've looked at your ser# post on page 5 of FAQ and see nothing prior to 1946. I do believe your recollection is correct though, as I came up with 1927 as well. Just checking to see if my research was correct. Thanks again for your input, it is valued!

#s 511055 and 511745 were shipped in Aug & Sept. 1929. respectively. However, if there's any one true thing you can say about S&Ws, it's that serial numbers and shipping dates have no correlation.
