Just picked up an early Tyler grip adapter for an N frame from my local gunsmith and I've never seen one with the stamped info on the outside. It's stamped in the aluminum running down the left side. I take it this is a very early one? Anyone know how old?

I doubt it, but I'll be sure to check when I go back to pick the two guns up that I dropped off today. Sounds like I did pretty good. I had him look at a project 1917 of mine and I had a pachmayer adapter on it. He said he hated those, and picked the early Tyler out of a box of junk. When I asked how much, he replied $3.00. I just about choked knowing that the modern ones cost about $25 shipped. I'll try to post some pix tomorrow.
I'm working on a severely butchered 1917 Commercial and turning it into a custom retro target gun with 'old school' accessories. I put a Micro front ramp sight, Lyman gold bead, Wondersight rear sight, pre-war magnas, and now it's got the early Tyler. I had to replace just about everything, so now it's got a new style thumblatch, hammer with chafing bushings from a triple-lock, and a post-war smooth wide target trigger. I kept the lanyard ring because I like the look.

I looked at few of Tyler's boxes this morning. Most of those I have on hand have the name, address and 7 digit zip code marked on both the box and the outside of the adapter, except for one which does not have the original box and is marked as you describe. Obviously, the postal code 14 for Oklahoma City pre dates the newer zip code system. Aside from one of the postal service guys here or someone else who knows precisely, when the new 7 digit zip codes first started was (I'm guessing, cause I just don't remember) the early 1960's.

I imagine that it might be from the 50's - early 60's? The one I have like yours came off of a relatives M&P service revolver. He retired in the mid 1960's. Hope this helps.
