One of my employees just showed me a very nice S&W revolver that was given to him buy his mother's widowed friend. It's 85%, no rust with normal blue wear at the muzzle from holstering.
Ser# 465xxx. My SCSW dates between 1915 and '42. Anyone able to give me a closer date of manufacture by similar lettered guns?
Value??

Hi Mickey
466XXX shipped Oct 1923
414XXX shipped Sept 1922...soooo a good guess is somewhere in between but, you already know that without a letter, its just a guess.

Some of the other guys can get closer, but if the stocks are number to the gun I would say in the 1920's. Ca will run higher I guess, but I say from $275 to 375 on the price.

I would say about the end of 1923. Those are the correct grips for that period.
Its a nice gun. The wear is mininal, edges and corners are sharp, as is the roll
marking. I agree with the price range of $275 to $375. I would go a tad tighter,
and say $300 to $350 , but that is just right in the middle of the broader range !

Mickey,
Ser No. #416xxx was shipped Dec 8, 1922.
That's a nice example of an old M&P. I would expect that gun to fetch $375 or thereabouts locally ... and I would probably pay that for it myself.
Regards,
Jerry

Thanks Mickey,
If it's any help, I paid $185 about a year ago.
But I agree, it would take $350+ for me to even begin to consider parting with it.

I'll look right past refinished examples to admire one like that.
Thanks for posting the photos Mikey!

I appreciate all the feedback. Wouldn't mind having this one added to my collection.
