I have an Registered Magnum that is missing the hold open pin and spring. I would like to fix this and wondered if anyone knew of a method to restore this feature.

Thanks

Nightowl,

I can't suggest a way to replace it except to scavenge a pin and spring from another prewar gun of lesser condition/quality.

You might try giving Jeff Lee a call at Lee's Gun Parts in Irving, TX. His number is 972.790.0773. He has a lot of parts for older guns. He is only open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

But first, be sure that they are missing and not just "gummed up" with old oil, dirt, etc. I've found them to be really stuck on guns that were poorly maintained. If it is stuck, I'd use some solvent and then press on the pin with a small punch to see if you can free it up. Then you can retrieve the spring with a straightened out tiny fish hook.

Bob

Numrich had these listed on the 1917 parts list (pins and springs). I've picked a few of them up.

Here they are:
Yoke Stop Spring
Yoke Stop
They're $1.50 each!

You might have to 'finish fit' the Numrich pin, both diameter and length, but it'll work just fine.
Their springs are perfect.
Attached is a photo that may be of help in showing the correct contour of the pin.
