Beautiful gun. Over the last five years or so, I'm starting to get a real appreciation for nickel guns. Was always blue/walnut for me but I going more and more for the nickel. Again, wonderful looking gun. I think I may do that to a 28-2 I picked up.

Not really sure I agree with the re-finish but that was your choice and I just figure that all the "original finish" guns just took another step up the price ladder.
That being said it is a very nice looking piece of work!!!

I know I did not dream that Fords was not doing top notch work due to an illness but your 38/44 looks really "Top Notch". I read that about Fords here in the forum somewhere, cannot remember from what section though. Anyone else see what I remember reading?

I just read in the 1857 to 1945 section that Ford's was fouling up royaly on their nickel plating. Win, that is obviously not the case with yours. Beautiful gun and I am glad you are pleased.

That's purty, the before pictures show a clean S&W but definitely shooter grade. Most collectors would probably not be interested in it. Shoot it and enjoy a fine gun.

That looks great! It sure looks like they do top notch work, how long did they take? Do they supply all the side plate screws or is that something you have to do? Outstanding!

Damn, did they ever screw up! There's an image of a hand holdin' a camera in the second photo!
I'd send it back and have that buffed out.
Stunning N frame Win.

I went to Florida for the 4th of July to visit the daughter and drove over to Ford's and dropped it off. So, early July to late November makes it about 4 months. To be fair, the owner advised they were in the beginning stages of plating a bunch of Baby Eagles and it would take them a few months to catch up and get to me.
They are in a small industrial park about 1 1/2 hour west of Gainesville (U of Fl).

Hi,
BEE-U-TI-FUL gun!
I'm encouraged by Ford's honest time frame they gave you and then how they delivered.
I was ready to send off my favorite revolver, a chopped barrel 25-2 "shooter" to them for refinishing, until a thread on this forum a year or so ago warned that Fords was undergoing some changes . . . and having both quality and delivery-on-time problems that were unlike Fords long-time reputation.
It looks like they've overcome both! This is great news. I think I'll have to consider sending them my baby again!
Thanks for posting!
Tom

If she shoots only half as good as she looks you'll have a real keeper!

I haven't had a need to refinish any of my guns, but Fords would be at the top to do the work.
Nice, thanks for sharing.

The gun looks beautiful!
In the past, I've had experience with several of the 'most recommended' shops.
When Horace Booth is on his game, he's the best nickel guy there is.
