No pics yet (sorry)
It is a nickel plated 38 special 6 inch barrel, mother of pearl grips, think I've heard these referred to as pencil guns. The number on the frame when opening the cylinder are 73769. Please help or if you need more info lmk.
Thanks in advance.

that number is probably the assembly number. need the one on the butt, back of cylinder or under the barrel. how many side plate screws, including any that might be under the grips? lee

Hi, with out any pictures it sounds like a .38 Military & Police series.. they were offered in various length barrels,in nickle and blue finish. I would guess with the 6" barrel it would be a 1902 M&P revolver. get the serial number on the bottom of the grip that would narrow down a date for us atleast.

Model of 1905, 4th change .38 Special M&P with 6" barrel made about 1929. Stocks aren't original and appear not to fit well. Originals could be convex checkered service or silver medallion service. Kind of on the cusp for the changeover.

Thanks, smith17. Wow 1929. It was inherited from my father, I have had it over 25 years.
