Just picked up a fair looking Victory I found in a local pawn shop:

V45450 with WB-PL and looks like a O on the butt

"United States Property" on the top strap and an Austrian Police stamp in the upper left side.

Reading former posts I see it is an Austrian Police issue with the WB and PL identifying the unit but does anyone know what the "O" is? Any idea of the year?

all numbers match that I can see - Frame, Cylinder and Barrel. Nothing on the grips that I can see.

Any help offered is great! I just started posting this week and learned a lot aready. Second Victory in a week and the wife is already screaming!

working on the photos but as I clean you are right. It is the WB with a p and flaming bomb (flames are almost gone but you can still see a couple) this is on the bottom w the SN. Cleaning up nice, will get some photos up this weekend. Grips dont match but otherwise all numbers look good.

Pay attention to the caliber. It is probably .38 S&W, not .38 Special. They are not the same cartridge dimensions, though many were reamed deeper to "pretend" to be .38 Special.

You did just fine. That is a nice looking Victory.

From the Victory Model Database, which my collaborator LWCmdr45 and I maintain, I can tell you that your Victory was likely shipped from the factory in the July, 1942 time frame.

As for the wife's complaints, just patiently explain to her that one can never have too many Victories. She may never quite grasp that important concept but hope springs eternal.
