Got this first one right before Christmas from fellow forum member Dan M...the serial number S679xx puts it in the 1946 range (I don't often get to post about pre-model number guns). A nice 5" gun with custom grips.

pbslinger & I shot it Friday and it was a wonderful shooter! Now to find the correct grips...nothing fancy, just appropriate for the gun.

Thanks Dan!

The other I picked up yesterday at a local collector's gun show. It's 1954-55 model gun and has a 4" barrel. I have on good authority that this gun may have been to S&W for two factory re-finish jobs...the stampings are a bit washed which makes sense if it's had two trips to Massachusetts. It's serial number S1096xx.

These two make three HDs in my accumulation...they are hard to walk past!

Bob

Great Pictures Bob,

Nice guns, Bob.
Dan does occasionally let one get away from him...but he keeps most of the good ones!!

Morning Bob - very nice score on the HD at the gunshow. That show always has something, except for me this time. Still was great to see all the displays and the guns. WG

JayCeeNC,
I would love to see Dan's line-up of HDs and other older Smiths!

Bill,
Thanks. Hope the show was good for you too!

yugolovr,
It's not really right to discriminate against a group, just because they are a bit on the heavy side

WG,
Thanks...I have pretty good luck at this show. (July too when I go)...The displays are terrific!

Bob
