I am hoping some of you grizzley old farts could steer me in the right direction. I have been trying to research King Gun Sight. What I am finding is a lack of information. Can anyone here set me on the straight and narrow path? There seems to be a little general history here and there. Is there something out there that could put a "little more meat on bones"....?

First, this implies that all of us are in the group you suggest, and you want to hear
from some of the members.

Second, I wonder how the ladies feel about being categorized this way - maybe Digi-Shots
will offer a response ?!

As to your question, I think the information is in bits and pieces. There is a brochure,
that I have a copy of, from Ricky's Gun Shop, or something like that. He was a successor
operation to King.

As far as I know, King was a fine gunsmith who pioneered improved sights. He was also
a dealer in S&W's and Colts, among other guns. But - he was just one of lots of small
business's, and was only known in that small circle of shooters, etc. I don't think he
attracted world-wide attention, for example, even though he was well-known here in the US.

It's like trying to find out a lot of information about Kearserge grips. The man was a
fabulous wood-carver, but as far as I know, there is little public information about him.

I know others here on the forum have plenty of info on King and will probably be along soon, all I have to offer is a picture of the man so at least you know what he looked like.

Steve

Yes - I had forgotten about the S&WCA series. His nephew, Jim King, wrote that.

Mike,

Grizzley Old Fartdom is a first and foremost a state of Mind. Hell, you would probably take honors for the Grizzley part ~ in any competition that was held here at the forum

It is not gender specific with intent...
Linda is a friend and whilst to fair to be considered grizzley, and to refined to be considered an old fart....she has the class to outshine most any of us....

So Mike ~ I never realized you were such a young Whippersnapper!

Your pal,

Giz

Hey Guys,
I just realized that my dry sense of Maine style humor could be interpreted wrong here....

I have the utmost respect for Mike and he and I trade emails often. Please forgive me if the above post seems a little tongue in cheek. Not my intent.

Mike is one of the good guys... And I was wrong to make my attempted good old boy humor at his expense...

Add to that that a couple of my good friends found exception to my remarks. It was not my intent and I have the utmost respect for Mike ~ even if I still consider him a "Grizzley Old Fart" ~ Consider that a parting shot at a good friend....

Sorry Mike!

Steve

Hey Giz,

Found this very interesting article on King Gun Sights...

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...50/ai_n6125523

As far as the "Grizzly Old Farts"... I thought you were talking about
Mr. Digi-Shots. He fits that description pretty well!

No offense taken here either. Some folks may be thin skined.

I know your comment wasn't to me, but I suspect I am like many others on this forum.
I personally consider GOF a point of status.. I have lived long and hard enough to have earned it and flaunt it..

I truly doubt that anyone here took offense to the term and I enjoy your comments and sense of humor.

I never had a grizzly fart, but the lumpy ones are pretty embarrasing.
