Can anybody share a nice picture of one of the 3&1/2, 4, or 5" K-32s Mr. Jinks mentions in his book? The black and white photo on p. 180 really doesn't do it justice. I know this post actually belongs in the post-1945 section, but I figured somebody here would be more likely to respond. A picture of a 3&1/2" would be a treat. If the moderators feel this should be moved, so be it.

There must be some mis-understanding. The picture on p180 is the three
different calibers of 4" K-frames: .22 , .32, and .38. There never was
any 3 1/2" K-32's done, as far as anyone, including Roy, knows.

These two guns are from about 1949. The one with the higher front sight is the K-32, in the K60,000 serial
number range. The one with the lower front sight is a K-22, that is an X serial number . It was owned by
Harold Sibley, the Chief Engineer at S&W. The letter indicates that it was perhaps a model that they
intended to produce, but never did. Its almost exactly like the usual 6" K-22, of the period, but in 4".

It appears that Mr Sibley was experimenting with the hammer stud. On this gun, the hammer stud floats in the
frame, as oppossed to being screwed in. When you take out the hammer, the stud usually comes out with it !

Robby Mattson took these pictures a couple years ago.

Maybe I did misunderstand the text in Mr. Jinks' book. I was going by the section "Combat Masterpiece Models" on p. 179:

"The factory produced a limited quantity of the K-32 with a 4" barrel. Between 1949 and 1960, the factory experimented with several barrel lengths and records indicate barrel lengths of 31/2" and 5" were manufactured..."

I guess the second sentence refers to the .38 Combat Masterpiece, but when I read it the first time I thought it referred to the K-32 mentioned in the first sentence. Sorry.

Those are great pictures, and I appreciate you guys sharing them. They are much better than the black and white photos in the book, especially if, like me, one hasn't seen a 4" K-32. Thanks for a look at a work of art.
