I stoped at a Antiques store on the way home today and found a old box ( well part of a box )
of Peters 32 S&W shells. But i don`t think the shells in the box are what came in the box when they were new.the box is all Peters not a word about Remington any where. But the head stamp on the shells have R-P 32 S&W on them.Any way does anyone know about when the box was made? Well it looks good with my 1&1/2 and they were just marked $16.00 but were on sale and i got them for $13.00.Thanks ahead of time for any info.papabyrd[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Beautiful box to display with your 1 1/2! I'm not an expert, but the box should be from right at the turn of the century, if not a little before. I'm pretty sure you are correct. The Rem-Peters merger was quite a bit later. (circa 1930 if I remember). I'm at work and don't have my book with me.

The semi-smokeless powder also points to that time frame. It was actually a mix of black powder and early smokeless powder; I don't think any of the ammo factories used it after WWI.
