Default Victory Markings

How are the Victorys bought by the US Navy in WW II marked? i know they're marked Navy or US Navy on the topstrap, but are there inspectors marks or anything else?

Victory models have various markings. The US NAVY models do have the topstrap stamped. Some Navy models also have the side stamped and sometimes this lettering is filled in with red paint.

That being said, there are some folks out there that have taken regular Victory models and stamped them with US NAVY hoping to fetch a little more money when selling them.

Post some pics of the gun if you can. Make sure you include a good shot of the left side, top strap and butt of the gun. There are known serial number ranges where the NAVY guns seem to fall but the only way to be really sure it is a NAVY is to get it lettered.

Hope this helps and welcome to the Forum!
