Default is this a model 35? Alloy frame?

Just bid on GB and lost on this one. Serial # 6353, claimed to be a model 35 " .22lr with an alloy frame, like the 37 J frame .38 special. Could it be a made up piece? customizing of a 37? I have 2 real 35's and several 34's but have never heard of and alloy frame 34 or 35. What could it be? Sold for $385,a bit under market I think. Don't have the auction # handy but check the completed auctions on GB for pictures.

Thanks,
Ischia

My guess is that it's a .22/32 Kit Gun Airweight (pre-model 43) with a replaced barrel from a Model 35. I think the original barrel would have been numbered on the flat. That serial number should date to the mid-1950's. Maybe not a bad price for a shooter.

I agree with Chad that it is a 43 with a replacement barrel - also notice it appears to have a smooth trigger. I would have bought it at that selling price.
